Medial Branch Blocks for Injection Soreness in Irondale

Medial branch blocks help assess whether nerves near the facet joints contribute to neck or back pain after a collision. The procedure is most useful when symptoms suggest facet-related pain and the examination supports a targeted approach.

This page focuses on what happens after the injection, not only the procedure itself. Patients need to know how temporary numbness can affect activity, how to record pain changes, and when to ask about the next treatment step.

The local service fits people injured in motor vehicle collisions who need focused pain care. Premier Injury Specialists also evaluates whiplash, herniated discs, sciatica, radiculopathy, headaches, and soft-tissue injuries through one coordinated practice.

  • Discuss injection soreness and any change in pain after the block.
  • Track pain during safe daily activity as directed.
  • Ask how findings affect later options, such as radiofrequency ablation.
  • Bring relevant accident records and prior treatment information to the evaluation.

Service Overview

Medial branch blocks are targeted injections that test and ease pain from small spinal nerve branches near facet joints.

  • Unlike epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks focus on nerves linked to facet joint pain rather than the epidural space.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this care for auto accident patients in Irondale and throughout South Metro Atlanta.

What Patients Learn After the Injection

Pain tracking gives the care team useful information about whether the targeted nerves affect your symptoms.

Activity testing helps connect pain changes with normal movement and daily tasks.

A clear review can help separate temporary injection effects from ongoing accident-related pain.

The findings may guide discussion of facet joint injections or radiofrequency ablation when clinically appropriate.

Process

How We Review Your Response After The Block

1

Review the accident and symptoms

We discuss the collision, pain location, numbness, weakness, and prior care before choosing the next clinical step.

2

Examine the painful spinal area

The physician checks movement, tenderness, strength, and sensation to compare the examination with your reported pain.

3

Explain the injection and aftercare

We explain what temporary numbness and injection soreness can mean, then give practical guidance for safe activity.

4

Track pain during activity

You record how pain changes during selected daily movements so the follow-up review includes more than a single pain score.

5

Discuss the next care option

The physician reviews your response and explains whether continued care, another injection, or a different approach fits the findings.

How We Approach This Pain Decision

Focused symptom review

We compare your pain pattern with the examination and the area treated. The block may not fit pain caused by a different structure, so we explain that limit before planning further care.

Plain-language aftercare

Our team explains what temporary numbness or injection soreness can mean and which changes deserve a call. You leave with practical points to watch.

Coordinated injury records

Board-certified pain management physicians and a certified physician assistant work within one practice. We connect the procedure findings with your broader accident evaluation and documentation.

I had a great experience at premier injury specialist after my car accident. From the moment I walked in, Tracy, the patient coordinator, made sure I understood the process and felt comfortable. Tony, the medical assistant, did an amazing job explaining the procedure in detail, which eased my nerves. Dr. Vyas thoroughly reviewed my MRI and took the time to explain my condition and treatment options. He was very honest and upfront about the procedure, making sure I truly needed the injection before administering it. His transparency and genuine care for my well-being reassured me that this office isn’t just in it for the money — they are truly invested in their patients’ health. I highly recommend this office to anyone in need of pain management. They provide exceptional care with professionalism and integrity.

The staff (Tracy) and the medical folks are very nice. They explain everything to you in plain language before you even get started, and once you see doctor (Dr Scott), the assistant (Areyana) is gentle & sweet. They both will walk you through the entire process verbally, as they go and they make sure you are good before you leave as well. Above & beyond when it comes to bedside manner. Just make sure you don't get lost in the Kroger parking lot, listening to GPS. The clinic is inside Arrowhead across the street, behind Subway.

Questions About Medial Branch Blocks After A Collision

What should I expect after medial branch blocks if injection soreness continues?

Injection soreness often reflects needle-site irritation and should be discussed if it worsens or comes with new symptoms. Track the location, strength, and change in pain during safe activity. Contact the practice promptly for new weakness, spreading numbness, fever, or severe pain. Your care team can then decide whether the symptoms fit expected aftercare or need review.

How does Premier Injury Specialists provide medial branch blocks?

Premier Injury Specialists provides medial branch blocks within focused auto accident injury care. The visit includes a symptom history, physical examination, procedure discussion, and follow-up review. Board-certified physicians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine coordinate the assessment. A certified physician assistant also supports patient care and documentation.

Which daily movements should I track after the block?

Daily movements should match the activity guidance given by the treating team. Record pain during ordinary actions such as walking, sitting, standing, or gentle movement when approved. Note the body area, the activity, and any numbness or weakness. These details help the physician compare your response with the examination.

Why can temporary numbness change how I test my pain?

Temporary numbness can reduce sensation near the treated area, so pain signals may feel different for a short period. Avoid pushing through activity to test the result. Follow the instructions provided after care and report weakness, unsafe movement, or worsening symptoms. The follow-up review can separate numbness from deeper pain changes.

What changes the cost of this type of injection visit?

The clinical evaluation, treatment area, records reviewed, and related follow-up needs affect the cost. Free consultations provide a chance to discuss your injury and care needs before the plan is set. MedPay or an attorney lien may apply for eligible auto accident care, and billing questions should be addressed during the consultation.

When might radiofrequency ablation enter the discussion?

Radiofrequency ablation may enter the discussion when the clinical findings and response to targeted blocks support facet-related nerve pain. It is not an automatic next step. The physician reviews your examination, symptom record, and activity response before discussing whether that option fits your condition.

Do I need a referral for an auto accident evaluation?

A referral is not stated as a requirement for Premier Injury Specialists' auto accident evaluations. The practice begins with an injury assessment and reviews the symptoms, records, and treatment needs. Ask about the intake steps when scheduling so the office can explain what information supports your visit.
