Why does back pain keep returning after an auto accident, and when could a medial branch block help?

Medial Branch Blocks for Riverdale Auto Accident Injuries

Medial branch blocks are used when the pain pattern points toward facet joints in the spine. These small joints can become painful after a collision, and the symptoms may include aching, stiffness, or pain with certain movements.

The key decision is whether the block provides meaningful temporary relief. Relief does not promise a lasting result, but it can give the physician useful information about the pain source and the next treatment discussion.

Patients in Riverdale receive this service through a practice focused only on motor vehicle collision injuries. We connect the procedure with the injury evaluation, follow-up care, and records needed for treatment planning.

  • Review whether the pain pattern fits facet-related neck or back pain.
  • Discuss prior evaluations, injections, and other treatments.
  • Confirm what the block is intended to test.
  • Plan follow-up around the patient’s response and documented findings.

Service Overview

Medial branch blocks are targeted injections that temporarily numb small nerves carrying pain signals from facet joints.

  • Unlike an epidural steroid injection, a medial branch block focuses on facet-related pain instead of nerve root irritation from a disc.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this service for Riverdale patients and people throughout South Metro Atlanta.

What This Pain Test Can Clarify

A medial branch block may help identify whether facet joints contribute to your pain.

The response gives the physician a focused point for the next treatment discussion.

You receive a documented care plan linked to your injury evaluation.

Focused pain care may help organize treatment when neck or back symptoms continue.

The process connects procedures, follow-up visits, and medical records in one practice.

Why Patients Choose Focused Facet Pain Care

A response-based treatment decision

The first goal is to learn whether facet-related nerves contribute to pain. The block is the wrong fit when the symptoms point to another source, such as a disc-related nerve problem.

Coordinated injury records

Patients receive care through one practice that links the evaluation, procedure notes, and follow-up findings. That record can support a clear treatment plan after a collision.

Pain medicine credentials

Our care includes board-certified physicians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine, plus a certified physician assistant.

Process

Steps We Use For Facet-Related Pain Testing

1

Review the injury and pain pattern

We review the collision history, symptoms, examination findings, and prior treatment records.

2

Confirm the treatment question

We decide whether the planned block is meant to assess facet-related pain and explain what the response could mean.

3

Perform the targeted injection

We place the medication near the selected medial branch nerves as part of the documented care plan.

4

Record the patient’s response

We discuss the pain response at follow-up and compare it with the goal set before the procedure.

5

Discuss the next option

If the findings support it, we discuss continued care or radiofrequency ablation during treatment planning.

The staff (Tracy) and the medical folks are very nice. They explain everything to you in plain language before you even get started, and once you see doctor (Dr Scott), the assistant (Areyana) is gentle & sweet. They both will walk you through the entire process verbally, as they go and they make sure you are good before you leave as well. Above & beyond when it comes to bedside manner. Just make sure you don't get lost in the Kroger parking lot, listening to GPS. The clinic is inside Arrowhead across the street, behind Subway.

The staff were super friendly and efficient with my back injections. They made me feel safe and I made a great connection with the receptionist. I was actually surprised by the low level of pain. I’ve had back injections before that were very painful, but these injections felt like a little pinch. Would definitely Recommend this facility.

Questions About Facet Nerve Blocks And Follow-Up

What happens if a medial branch block relieves my pain?

Treatment planning uses meaningful relief as evidence that the targeted facet nerves may contribute to your pain. A follow-up visit reviews how much relief you noticed and how long it lasted. The physician then discusses whether continued care or radiofrequency ablation fits your findings. Relief alone does not guarantee that a later procedure will help.

When planning ahead, who provides medial branch blocks for auto accident injuries prior to on-site work?

Premier Injury Specialists provides medial branch blocks for people injured in motor vehicle collisions. Our practice focuses on injury evaluations, targeted procedures, and medical documentation. Board-certified physicians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine guide care, while a certified physician assistant also supports the practice.

Which records should I bring before a facet nerve block?

Prior imaging reports, treatment notes, medication information, and collision records can help the physician assess the procedure. Bring any documents you already have, even if they seem incomplete. Our team reviews the available history, asks about current symptoms, and explains which information matters for the treatment decision.

When is radiofrequency ablation discussed after a block?

Radiofrequency ablation is discussed when the block response supports facet-related pain and the overall evaluation fits that option. The follow-up visit reviews the patient’s reported relief and the original treatment goal. Our team explains the procedure, possible limits, and other care choices before a decision is made.

Why might a block fail to relieve my neck or back pain?

A lack of relief may mean the treated facet nerves are not the main pain source. Disc irritation, nerve root pain, muscle injury, or another condition may need review. Our team uses the response with the examination and records, then adjusts the care discussion to address the broader injury picture.

How does cost change for a procedure after an auto accident?

Cost depends on the evaluation, procedure details, documentation, and coverage arrangement. MedPay or an attorney lien may apply to eligible injury care. We explain the expected services during a consultation, so patients and attorneys can understand what the treatment record includes before proceeding.
