Occipital Neuralgia Care for Collision-Related Head Pain in Conley

Occipital neuralgia can cause sharp, burning, or aching pain near the back of the head. Neck stiffness and headache symptoms can follow a motor vehicle collision, so the visit must connect the symptoms to the injury record.

The main decision is whether conservative care, medication, a nerve block, or another procedure fits the findings. Our team focuses on auto accident injuries, not general primary care, urgent care, or workers’ compensation care.

This page helps patients in Conley decide what to ask during an injury evaluation. It also explains how treatment choices and medical records fit together.

  • Describe where the pain starts and where it travels.
  • Bring available collision records, prior treatment notes, and imaging reports.
  • Ask what finding supports each proposed treatment.
  • Confirm how the treatment plan will be documented for ongoing care.

Process

How We Plan Occipital Neuralgia Care

1

Review the collision and symptom history

We discuss the collision, headache pattern, neck symptoms, scalp sensitivity, prior care, and available medical records.

2

Complete the focused injury evaluation

The evaluation examines the symptoms and clinical findings that may relate to occipital nerve pain.

3

Match care to the findings

We discuss physical therapy, medication, an occipital nerve block, or radiofrequency ablation when the clinical picture supports the option.

4

Explain the selected procedure

Our team explains the proposed treatment, answers questions, and reviews what the patient should understand before care.

5

Document the treatment plan

The practice records the findings, treatment decision, and ongoing care details for the patient’s medical file.

How Our Approach Helps You Choose Care

Treatment matched to the pain pattern

Head pain, scalp tenderness, and neck findings can point toward different options. We use the exam and injury history to guide the discussion, and we explain the clinical reason for each recommendation.

Board-certified pain medicine physicians

Our team includes board-certified physicians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. A certified physician assistant also supports patient care within the practice.

Documentation built into care

Medical records cover the evaluation, selected treatment, and clinical findings. This helps patients and personal injury attorneys follow the course of care.

A clear limit on service fit

This service is for auto accident injuries. It isn't the right fit for general primary care, urgent care, or workers’ compensation care.

A situation this service fits

A patient in Conley has headache pain and scalp sensitivity after a collision, but the source of pain is not yet clear. Our team reviews the injury history and clinical findings before discussing medication, a nerve block, or another procedure. The patient can then choose whether to proceed with a documented care plan.

The staff (Tracy) and the medical folks are very nice. They explain everything to you in plain language before you even get started, and once you see doctor (Dr Scott), the assistant (Areyana) is gentle & sweet. They both will walk you through the entire process verbally, as they go and they make sure you are good before you leave as well. Above & beyond when it comes to bedside manner. Just make sure you don't get lost in the Kroger parking lot, listening to GPS. The clinic is inside Arrowhead across the street, behind Subway.

Questions About Occipital Neuralgia Pain Care

Who provides this treatment for auto accident injuries?

Premier Injury Specialists provides this treatment through board-certified physicians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. A certified physician assistant also supports care. The practice focuses on people injured in motor vehicle collisions, and the team connects the evaluation, treatment plan, procedures, and medical documentation.

How is a nerve block matched to my symptoms?

An occipital nerve block is matched to pain near the back of the head and related clinical findings. The evaluation reviews the pain path, headache pattern, scalp sensitivity, neck symptoms, and prior treatment. We explain what the block is intended to address and answer questions before recommending it.

What should I bring to the first pain visit?

Medical records and imaging reports help our team understand the injury and prior care. Bring available collision information, treatment notes, medication details, and reports from earlier evaluations. A complete history helps connect the current headache or scalp pain with the auto accident and supports a more focused discussion.

Which part of care changes the price?

The selected treatment and clinical needs are the main cost drivers. An evaluation, medication plan, nerve block, or radiofrequency ablation can involve different care needs. We offer Free Consultations and can discuss MedPay or an attorney lien during the consultation, but the exact cost requires an assessment.

When is same-day evaluation available?

Same-day evaluations are available when the Stockbridge clinic has availability. Scheduling depends on the clinic’s open appointment capacity and the patient’s needs. Patients in Conley can ask about an evaluation for collision-related headaches, neck pain, or scalp symptoms when requesting care.

Why might medication be discussed before a procedure?

Anti-inflammatory medication may be discussed when symptoms and medical history support its use. Medication review helps the physician consider current drugs, past response, and safety concerns before selecting an injection or nerve procedure. Patients should share all medicines they take and ask about possible risks.
