Why does lower back pain keep happening after a car accident?

Lower back pain may continue when facet joints, discs, nerves, or soft tissues remain irritated after a collision. Facet joint injections fit only when the clinical pattern points toward facet-related pain. A pain evaluation helps separate these causes and guides the next treatment decision.

Facet joint injections for lower back pain in Lovejoy

Facet joint injections address pain thought to come from the facet joints in the spine. These joints help guide movement, and irritation can follow trauma, arthritis pain, or spinal degeneration.

This service is for patients whose symptoms and examination support a facet-related source. It isn't the right fit for every case, including pain that points more strongly to a disc, nerve root, or another condition.

The local decision is about fit, not a different medical method. Patients in Lovejoy can request an evaluation through our Stockbridge clinic, which serves South Metro Atlanta and focuses on motor vehicle injuries.

  • Whether the pain pattern suggests facet joint involvement.
  • Whether a collision-related injury record supports the evaluation.
  • Whether another source, such as a disc or nerve root, better explains the symptoms.
  • Whether the planned injection fits the broader treatment plan.

Service Overview

Facet joint injections are targeted injections that place medicine near the small joints connecting the bones of the spine.

  • Facet joint injections differ from epidural steroid injections, which target the space around spinal nerves.
  • Our team provides facet joint injections for collision-related injuries in Lovejoy and throughout South Metro Atlanta.

What facet joint injections include for this care

Premier Injury Specialists provides comprehensive Facet Joint Injections in Lovejoy. Here's what you get:

  • We review the injury history and current symptoms before discussing facet joint treatment.
  • We perform an evaluation focused on the spine, movement, and reported pain pattern.
  • We explain what the injection targets and how it fits the treatment plan.
  • We provide detailed medical documentation through the coordinated practice.
  • We discuss related options when findings point toward another pain source.

What targeted facet care can change

A targeted injection may help clarify whether facet joints contribute to the pain.

The treatment plan stays tied to the patient’s examination and injury history.

Patients receive a clearer explanation of how facet pain differs from nerve or disc pain.

Focused documentation supports continuity throughout auto accident injury care.

What patients should weigh before choosing facet care

Match the injection to the pain source

Facet joint injections make sense when the examination supports facet-related pain. We connect the procedure to the suspected source instead of treating every spinal complaint the same way.

Keep the injury record coordinated

Our team includes board-certified physicians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine, along with a certified physician assistant. We keep evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation within one practice.

Know when another service fits better

Facet joint injections may be the wrong choice when symptoms point to a herniated disc, radiculopathy, or another condition. We discuss other care options when the findings support them.

Process

Steps from evaluation to facet joint treatment

1

Review the collision and symptoms

We discuss the accident, pain location, movement limits, and prior care during the injury evaluation.

2

Examine the suspected pain source

The physical examination checks spinal movement and findings that may support facet-related pain.

3

Explain the injection plan

We explain the target, expected role, and place of the injection within the broader treatment plan.

4

Record the care clearly

Our team documents the evaluation and treatment plan for continued medical care and attorney records when applicable.

How spinal injection types differ

These treatments target different pain sources, so the clinical findings guide the choice.

TreatmentMain targetWhen it may be discussed
Facet joint injectionA spinal facet jointWhen findings suggest joint-related pain
Epidural steroid injectionThe space around spinal nervesWhen symptoms suggest nerve or disc irritation
Medial branch blockSmall nerves serving facet jointsWhen physicians need to assess facet-related pain signals

The staff were super friendly and efficient with my back injections. They made me feel safe and I made a great connection with the receptionist. I was actually surprised by the low level of pain. I’ve had back injections before that were very painful, but these injections felt like a little pinch. Would definitely Recommend this facility.

Questions about targeted facet joint care

During project preparation, which conditions may respond to facet joint injections during the on-site evaluation?

Lower back pain may respond when facet joints appear to contribute to the symptoms. Arthritis pain and spinal degeneration can also affect these joints. The evaluation checks whether the pain pattern fits facet involvement. Neck pain may involve cervical facet joints, but the treatment plan must match the affected area and clinical findings.

For Facet Joint Injections, what does the first evaluation check before an injection?

The first evaluation checks the collision history, pain pattern, spinal movement, and related symptoms. The medical record may also guide the discussion. The goal is to identify whether facet joints, discs, nerves, or soft tissues best explain the complaint. Our team then explains the available treatment path.

How do I know whether this injection fits my condition?

Facet joint injections fit when examination findings support facet-related pain. Numbness, weakness, or pain traveling along a nerve may point toward another source. Our physicians compare the symptoms with the physical findings before recommending treatment. That review helps prevent the procedure from being used for the wrong condition.

What can change the cost of this treatment?

The clinical plan, affected area, and related injury services influence the cost. MedPay or an attorney lien may apply to eligible auto accident care. A consultation lets us review the records and explain the expected services. We do not publish a business price for the injection itself.

Can I request a same-day evaluation after an accident?

Same-day evaluations are available when possible at our Stockbridge clinic. The appointment still begins with an injury assessment, not an automatic injection. Our team reviews the symptoms and records before discussing treatment. Availability depends on the clinic schedule and the needs of the evaluation.

Who provides facet joint injections for collision injuries?

Premier Injury Specialists provides facet joint injections through a coordinated pain management practice. Board-certified physicians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine lead care with support from a certified physician assistant. The practice focuses on people injured in motor vehicle collisions.
